DAN WITZ - MOSH PITS, HUMAN and OTHERWISE

Dan Witz
Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise
Solo Exhibition

June 30—July 30, 2011
Opening Reception: Thursday, June 30, 6—8pm
NEW YORK, NY (June 1, 2011)Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to present Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise, recent works by Brooklyn-based artist Dan Witz, in what will be his first solo exhibition at the gallery.
Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise features large-scale oil paintings on canvas from Witz’s celebrated Mosh Pit series—produced over the past ten years—marking the first time works in the series have been exhibited together.

Dan Witz is known for hyper-realistic figurative painting, with a career spanning over three decades in both studio work and street art interventions.
Applying old master techniques, he achieves impressively convincing trompe l’oeil illusions of light, shadow and depth in his finely rendered portraits, landscapes and still lifes.

Street Art Contest@ BW Falck Village Hotel

COME?
Cosa aspetti...inviaci i tuoi lavori:

OPIEMME - THIS IS NOT NAPLES BUT ...

Naples has been shocked and in a state of chaos for a long time due to the rubbish crisis.
But what actually is the difference between Naples and other Italian cities?
Welcome to Italy, this is our mentality. No respect for public property. This is my city. It's not Naples but...
Rubbish is not the problem. The Mafia capitalising on rubbish is not the problem.
They are both just consequences of the Italian way of living.

AMSTERDAM GUYS IN PERUGIA !

Well last night, at Galo Art Gallery, we talked with two interesting artists (MaomaLand and Rocco Pezzella) and found a project that will bring some guys from Amsterdam in Perugia!
COMMA ART CITY PROJECT's MANIFESTO (20th June - 30th July 2011)is here:
"The comma indicates a pause in a sentence. It is the moment of breathing; is a suspension. The comma doesn’t break down the conversation, but opens to a new dialogue, leaves the space to think and sometimes suggests a different ending.
This project intends to create a meeting point among artists, and a connection with the city. A moment suspended in time that will leave a sign of what happened, a trace of a group of artists who share the daily life and the final aim.
With this project, Perugia presents the work of 15 artists of 8 different nationalities, all resident in Amsterdam. The works will be split into exhibition spaces and public interventions, getting in touch with a widely diversified public and establishing a direct connection with the city".

The site is here with other info (The London Police, Galo, Wayne Horse ...and many others !).

SWOON - THALASSA at NOMA

On Friday, June 10, the New Orleans Museum of Art unveils a new large scale, site-specific installation by the internationally renowned artist Swoon.
This installation, entitled Thalassa, is named for and inspired by the Greek goddess of the sea.
The work began with a careful examination of NOMA's Great Hall and was specifically designed for the space.
Thalassa will be on display until September 25.

"This exhibition launches a series of commissioned site-specific works for NOMA's Great Hall," said NOMA Director Susan Taylor. "Each summer, the museum plans to work with an artist to create a project for this dramaticÊspace. Whether inspired by New Orleans or the space itself, we hope to engage artists and our community in an ongoing conversation about contemporary art. Swoon's Thalassa is a dramatic, thought-provoking piece that will speak to all audiences."

ELTONO IN WARSAW

"At the end of May 2011, I went for a couple of weeks to Warsaw to paint two big murals on the facades of an old building that was constructed before World War II (very few of these buildings are still intact because of the intense bombings). The project was part of update 2011, an event organized by the Vlepvnet foundation.  Every year they invite local and international artists to work in the city. The building is located on Zlota street in the Wola neighborhood, close to the central station. Thanks to the help from the guys from vlepvnet, the volunteers and the support of the neighbors, we managed to finished the two murals in only seven days".
Chrono story here.

BLADE - The King's new line

Blade ‘The King of Graffiti’ returns to Amsterdam for a triple event in his honor. Starting at ArTicks Gallery with the exhibition of Blade’s newest collection of artworks on canvas.
Then a presentation at 5-Elementz by the king himself, showing and telling about the 70’s graffiti scene and the old ‘lines’ of the New York subway that he use to rule.
After an autograph signing and meeting opportunity, the last part of the trilogy will take place at Cafe Batavia 1920 where the king and subjects can feast on NYC style hotdogs and drinks.
During the day you are welcomed at the Utopia Hotel to relax with some fresh Blade Haze. While there you will find a few paintings on the wall by Recal.
