Today MadnessWall begins to be a media Partner of "Living Walls the City speaks" a Street Art and urbanism conference organised by a good friend of mine, Blacki.

"The event is set to take place the weekend of August 13, 2010.
The exhibition will be divided into three components: a component devoted to public murals involving Poster Art, a lecture series which the Georgia Tech Architecture Department has agree to host for us, and a that of a gallery opening taking place at the Eyedrum.
Friday August 13th, the event will consist of a lecture series held at Georgia Tech. On Saturday August 14th, the event will consist of an exhibition and Pecha Kucha style presentations held at Eyedrum's. An exhibition of poster art, wall painting, and wheat-paste will be open in Eyedrum's galleries from August 13 through the end of September".

Who is Gec ?

Contaminazione. Minestrone di immagini schizzate fuori dal turbinio continuo del televisore, sprazzi di musica assordante e pubblicità che martella ininterrottamente le nostre teste. Prendete tutto questo e provate a spremerlo fino alla buccia ed otterrete un distillato purissimo e acerbo fatto di tinte forti e contrasti decisi.

Questo distillato viene spalmato e confezionato , chiuso ermeticamente in una cornice, per rimanere un fotogramma fermo e lucido che tenta in qualche modo di bloccare il caos. Quello che vi sta girando attorno quotidianamente.

Queste immagini strisciano di soppiatto nel mondo semplificato e coloratissimo dei fumetti, ma descrivono in maniera frenetica qualcosa che va ben oltre.

Il fumetto non è il fine,bensì il mezzo necessario per arrivare ad un pubblico il più vasto possibile ed evitare che il messaggio venga percepito da pochi . Sono immagini grottesche ed eccessive, all’apparenza innocue, ma che vi daranno l’impressione di non essere più così certi che quello che state guardando sia poi così divertente e spensierato.

Deitch Projects is pleased to present May Day, an exhibition of new work by Shepard Fairey, as its final project.

Titled not only in reference to the day of the exhibition’s opening, the multiple meanings of May Day resonate throughout the artist's new body of work.

Originally a celebration of spring and the rebirth it represents, May Day is also observed in many countries as International Worker's Day or Labor Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations coordinated by unions and socialist groups.

“Mayday” is also the distress signal used by pilots, police and firefighters in times of emergency.

STRADA FACENDO 2010 : Elfo

Elfo´s extreme freedom becomes an extremely original process of research, in which the expressive meta-language makes his activity difficult to classify in a single category.

Street-art was born by Graffiti, but the marginal diversions of the young artists make Street-art a wide pot with undefined borders, always changing. The wall is no more the "canvas" on which they draw codes and places of urban culture, but it becomes part of the work, thanks to an original contamination with land-art and concept-art. In this creative stream are not involved only degraded urban contests, but also people, animals and stuff, in which the final work can be the performance, the photographic report or the poly-material installing legacy. References to Surrealism, such as the gap between objects and their meaning, are mixed with this smart work in a strong awareness of reality.

Br1 is a special friend of MadnessWall. A very talentous artist for StradaFacendo 2010.

"It is a deep social and civil analysis, developed toward feminine dignity, stated under several aspects of costumes, behaviours and habits of lifestyles, both similar and different, that Bruno practices. The Muslim woman is the core of Bruno’s whole production –maybe unique within the street-art scenario. It is protagonist of public contemporary tales, in which the attention simultaneously shifts and swings along the line of contacts and contrastive analogies, between behaviours and western education. Technically, the figures are clean and sharp; the backgrounds are large and clear, with defined outlines, thickened as he would have liked to point out hardness and dramatic force of the content."

STRADA FACENDO 2010 : Boris Hoppek

Boris Hoppek was born in Kreuztal, Germany in 1970. He wanted to study art but wasn‘t accepted at art school. In the early nineties he started to graffiti the streets and his art has continued developing ever since.

His first Bimbo doll appeared in 2002 and, thanks to an advert from the german car manufacturer Opel, his audience multiplied incalculably overnight.
